What a Crazy Couple of Months!

What a mess these last 2 months have been. Fortunately, I have a great support system to help out.

Early September, I went in for my prenatal check-up at 9 weeks. Yes, I got preggo again. Unfortunately, I had miscarried & the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks. The doc said it was one of those spontaneous things that just happens. If your body finds that it didn't create something perfect it knows that it can try again next time. It became a long process after we found out. I guess it's better to find out earlier, rather than later.

Then about a week later, my doc found a lump in my right thyroid. He ordered an ultrasound & then the specialist ordered a biopsy. I had a solid tumor that took up 1/2 my right thyroid. I have a family history of thyroid cancer (as well as breast cancer) and there was a 2/3 chance of it being cancerous. Oct 21 I had the entire thyroid removed & surgery went successful. My body's just having a hard time adjusting after the surgery with all the chemical imbalances, but should go back to normal in about a week. The wonderful news is that today I found out the pathology report showed the tumor was NOT CANCEROUS! That means I don't have to worry about radiation or any other cancer treatments! Yippee!

Vanessa, poor baby, came down with Swine flu also. She's had a hard time breathing and was hospitalized for a day. She's doing better now, but her doc finds it best to keep her on asthma preventive meds thru the winter. Hopefully, she won't be seeing the inside of any more hospitals.

It looks like we're in the market for another vehicle also. Kim's had his Infiniti for 2 1/2 yrs & it's been thru 2 engines already (1 recently replaced also). It died on the highway for me coming home from work a couple weeks ago. The fuel pump went out & was fixed. Then the Service Engine light came on because the catalytic converter went out last week. Now Kim's still in a loaner (about 2 mo) & has made a complaint to Infiniti about his car. His file is still under review, but either way the car has got to go. Luckily, his car is still under warranty, but it's only got 1,000 mi left before it's gone. With the way things are going with the car so far, we don't want to see what the bill would look like after the warranty expires.

My wonderful mom has come down to help out also with the baby since I am unable to pick her up from the surgery. Everyone's been super helpful and nice. And Kim wins "The Hubby of the Year" award for being so supportive in every way possible.

Our Little Cute Blessing

I am super lucky to have such a wonderful cute daughter! Sara is sporting her t-shirt that Kim bought her at Babies R Us. It says "My First Astros Tee" and her cute lil Converse sneakers. We didn't even get a chance to let her wear those shoes before she grew out of them. I managed to get her big feet into them just for the photo. She started getting cranky after a few minutes.

She's started to clap whenever you say "yeah!" She likes to shake her head "no" especially when she's done eating. She's also trying really hard to wave "goodbye" & "hi" to us when we leave for work & come home.

Sara was so hungry she just grabbed the bottle off her tray and started going at it. Now I'm trying to get her to hold it up herself. She can do it for a few minutes but then gets tired and starts sucking air. :( She'll get the hang of it.

She's kinda fussy these days with all her teeth. She's had her front bottom 4 teeth in for a while. Now all of a sudden, the top 4 are all coming in at the same time. It's really hurting her & we've been so thankful for the Orajel & Tylenol.

I guess he's forgiven!  He admits to being a jerk even though he doesn't remember anything about that night.  The only thing he recalls is splashing me in the face with beer.

Depeche Mode Night

We went to the concert tonight & it was going great until the hubs became wasted.  Splashing me in the face with beer, tipping over in lawn chairs, walking around with his eyes closed,...  It took us 1 1/2 hrs to get from The Woodlands, to Richmond to pick up Sara, and finally back home in Katy.  Boy did that drive feel longer than it was.  I kept screaming at Kim to call his mom & let her know we were close.  I tried slamming on the breaks while on Westpark Tollway & rolling the windows down.  He just kept yelling back "I'm dialing" while the phone was under his leg.  He never called.  We get home & I told him to let the dogs out so they can go potty.  He comes back in from the garage & asked if he should load Sara in the car.  I asked "why?" since we just got home.  He replied "so we can take her to my mom's house."  I asked him where the dogs were & he said they were in the Mini.  I said "get them out of my car right now!"  I let the dogs in the backyard since obviously that was too complicated for Kim.  I didn't even bother to ask him to feed the dogs since I didn't want to see his interpretation of that.  Now I'm just hoping he'll be more coherent when Sara needs him tomorrow & I'm at work.

My Cute Lil' Mini

Today I went to Target & made my own parking spot.  I parked between 2 islands of landscaping where I assume people walk.  I'm not sure what the space is for.  I know it's not for the shopping carts.  Well anyways there was still plenty of room for me to get in & out.

The next place I'm going to try parking is the cart returns at my work.  You know Sam's Club has those super big cart returns for the flatbeds!

Sara has 2 bottom teeth and she's working hard at getting the others out! Drooling like crazy and I think they're driving her crazy. She hasn't stopped yelling all day. At least she's not upset.

Sara's 6 Month Appointment

Sara just had her 6 month appointment this morning. She comes in at height 27 1/4" (97%!!), weight 17lb. 4oz. (75%), head circumference 17" (75%). Dr. Razak says she's going to be a supermodel at that height.  She got 2 shots in each of her turkey thighs! She's growing great! This is her exhausted after the appointment.

We caught her "sitting" for about 3 seconds. She can sit up now in highchairs, but we tried shopping carts today & she kept falling over to the sides. So we're still working on that.

Premium outlet mall

We went to Premium Outlet Mall this weekend with Granparents Chow.  Grandpa wanted to buy all his daughters a new purse, but since I ditched the purse after acquiring a diaper bag someone else got a gift.  Grandpa got Sara new clothes, Converse hightop sneakers, & a classy Coach diaper bag.  This was Sara chilling in the car on the way to her big day of shopping.

Yeah! Sara is finally tall enough for her saucer. Just 2 weeks ago she was on her tippy toes barely able to reach the bottom, but today it was success! She was so amused by the little toys & all the noises they made also. She's getting so big so fast.

4 months old!

Wow how time flies! Thursday we went in for Sara's 4 mo check-up.

Dr. told us to start her on rice cereal! Yeah her first solid food! She thought it was disgusting. And I don't know if it was the carbs in the cereal but she slept like crazy on Fri when I fed her her first cereal. We woke up at 7:30 AM and ate cereal & formula, then she woke around 4 PM and drank another bottle, and then she woke up 8:30 AM Sat morning. What happened in between you say? She slept between all those feedings! Yes she had over 18 hrs of sleep on Fri/Sat. It was weird & amazing. Daddy did better Sat AM with the cereal.

I also found Sara's ticklish spot on Wed! Right in the center of her chest. Weird! She screams & giggles with laughter.

Easter 2009

Sara had her first Easter! She wore her pretty dress that Aunt Claudia bought her to the Japanese Garden at Hermann Park.

This is the first day that Kim & I actually saw Sara rollover. We were so proud of her & we caught it on video. She's getting so strong now. Sitting in her Bumbo, rolling over, & she loves to try and stand up tall.

Sara is just the little social bug. She will go to anyone's arms. The cousins & grandparents watched her while Kim, Henry, & I went to the movies. Monsters VS. Aliens 3D is hilarious & awesome!

Madelyn came over this morning with her mommy & breakfast for a lil mini playdate! Sara shared her floormat toy with Madelyn. In return, Madelyn kept giving Sara lil kisses on her hands. So cute!

Big Girl!

Thursday while we were both at work the grandparents said Sara rolled over! Yeah for her, but sad for us because we missed it. She was on her little floormat toy when she rolled from back to front. Eventually, Kim & I will see it. And boy is she going through a growth spurt. Suddenly she went from eating 4 oz to 6 oz & sometimes getting hungry in less than the 3 hrs later. We had a long weekend & went to a party Saturday night. Sara got sleepy & fell asleep at 9 PM so we left. Kim & I were both expecting a wake up call around 3-4 AM, but nope. We didn't hear from her until 9 AM. Yes. That's right. Sara slept for 12 hrs straight without asking for a bottle. And when she woke, she was smiling & staring up at her little parrot. Amazing (& unpredictable)!

Girls Night Out @ Mamacita's

It was Friday & after a long week... it was time for a girls night out of margaritas & yummy TexMex.  I enjoyed a fun night with Ruth Ann & Summer drinking our swirl sangria & swapping silly stories.  The daddies stayed home with the babies & Sam drove us to & from the restaurant so that we didn't have to hold back.  Our sweet men!

its been what, 3 weeks since buying the MINI? some asshole already put a huge door ding on the MINI. I'm so pissed off. Why can't people care about other people's property? Is it really that hard? Or are some people just that stupid? uughh.....

Tapioca Epress

Today we went to the Galleria and shopped some more!  Auntie Claudia met us up & bought me a cute lil dress from Baby Gap.  Then we went to Tapioca Express because I was getting hungry & mommy fed me a bottle.  Then I let mom, dad, & Auntie Claudia enjoy a dinner at Guadalajara's while I sat there happy with a full belly.  Now I'm passed out in my crib in my nursery for the 2nd night in a row & mom and dad hope that I sleep through the night again like a good lil girl. Zzzzzzzzzzz!

Katy Mills Mall

Yesterday we went shopping with Ruth Ann at Katy Mills Mall for her birthday. We watched Madelyn, Sara's BFF, as she went around on the carousel. She was riding the horse pretty quick! We picked up a cute sunflower outfit at Carter's. Then we went out for lunch at TGI Friday's & had huge margaritas. Unfortunately, they tasted more like virgin fruit slushies. It was a nice girls day out of shopping & lunch.

I was tagged by Niki to display my 4th photo from my fourth folder on my computer. This is Sara in her lil pink Nike outfit that Aunt Claudia bought her. There are lil matching socks that she has on also. She is 9 weeks old in this picture. She doesn't like hats, but I managed to snap a pic before she started wailing.

Shopping in the New Car

Yesterday was eventful. Sara & I went shopping in the new car. She is getting so heavy especially with the carseat. I took her out using the Baby Bjorn carrier which was much more convienent. We were doing pretty good too. We went to Kohl's & Half Price Books. Then she got hungry. So I fed her in the cozy backseat of the Mini. Boy, does she eat slow! Anyways! Sara wouldn't burp after that so off we went to the next store. We went to Target & then Border's. I was about to get her out of the carseat in the parking lot of Border's when all of a sudden... a fountain of formula came out of Sara. It covered her chest, lap, legs, the seatbelts in the carseat. I just looked at her like a deer in headlights. Should I just leave her in her mess and drive straight home? Should I clean her up and keep going with the shopping? Sigh! So I decided to clean her up. It took me a while to wipe her down, change her clothes, & wipe down the carseat. Thank goodness, she only got a spec on the new seat! It was a challenge to do in the backseat, but we managed. So after Border's, we were off to Sam's to pick up a couple things & visit my co-workers. This was our last stop since I didn't want to keep pulling her in and out of the goey carseat. Now back home, it was traffic time now. And then I realized! It's me and Sara in the car! I can take the HOV! I was home in no time. Then with Sara screaming. I fed her, bathed her sticky lil fingers, & washed the carseat. I was pooped! Lights out! We are staying home today!

Sara's 2 Months Old

Today we went for Sara's 2 month check-up. She recieved 2 shots, 1 in each chicken thigh, & an oral one. That's what the 2 metallic band-aids are on her legs. Total about 6 or 7 vaccines. She was all giggly & smiling with the doctor. He said she had a perfectly round head & to keep up her tummy time.

Height: 22 3/4 in (50-75%)

Weight: 11 lbs (25%)

Head: 15 1/4 in (50%)

Then after we got home she was fussy & angry. I think she was in a lot of pain because once I got her to stop screaming she slept for 5 hrs in the middle of the afternoon from all the excitement & exhaustion.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I had an awesome Valentine's day! I traded in my Toyota Solara today for this cute Mini Cooper S. And YES we all fit perfectly in it! Thank you honey! Kim told my mother that a red car was better than red roses. She said Yes! :O) Then we went to visit Claudia & had a yummy lobster dinner @ Fish City where Marcelo works. What a perfect day!
